Remember the line from the hymn-“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness”? As one who no longer buys into the “Jesus died for my sins” model, I must develop an alternative if I expect to go through this life with a smile on my face and spring in my step. Upon what foundation can I build some solid hope? Culture throws out a lot of suggestions, but in the end, each one is found wanting.
Along the line of searching for hope, check out this interesting song. If the music is too hard for your taste, turn it off and just read the lyrics.

I also like the Sanskrit term “mantra” which literally means mind tool. As one who daily struggles between a life of hope and doubt, I continually try to collect “mind tools” to pry my psyche from the dark abyss of disenchantment and despair. Suggestions?
